Conor McGregor suffered a gruesome injury in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. It’s needless to say that McGregor lost more than just a fight.
The aura of Conor McGregor is now gone and most of the fans believe that McGregor’s best days are now behind him. And after such a career-threatening injury there are fans who don’t want him to get back into the octagon and put it all on the line again.
However, McGregor and his team are confident that there will be a return for the Notorious. But, it is not going to happen this year. As per reports, McGregor has faced a medical suspension following UFC 264 that restricts him to get back to the octagon until January 7. The report says:
Conor McGregor has been given a medical suspension until January 7, 2022, unless he receives orthopedic clearance of his fractured left leg. Minimum suspension for six weeks, and no contact (sparring) until early to mid-August, as per the combat sports regulator MMA.

Should Conor McGregor come back after UFC 264?
Conor McGregor has already addressed his future in UFC following the loss. McGregor stated that he will come back to fight Dustin Poirier. However, it’s hard to imagine that the outcome of the fourth fight going in the favor of McGregor.
Agreed, Conor McGregor looked incredible in the early part of the fight and if he had not injured his leg there was a possibility he could have made a comeback in the second round. Besides that, if Dustin Poirier checking the leg kick damaged Conor’s leg then it did have a huge impact in the later part of the first round.
But, after suffering a brutal leg injury McGregor will never be the same. And it must be considered that Conor McGregor was already struggling to put on clinics as he put against Jose Aldo and Eddie Alvarez. So we can McGregor’s game to take a downfall following the injury. And it might be time for McGregor to call it quits from UFC.
But, he can still be a huge draw by making a return into the boxing world. There are many exciting and huge matchups for McGregor in the boxing world. And it would be easier for him to return to boxing and perform than fight in a mixed martial arts ring.

Though it would make sense if Mcgregor never comes back to MMA at the end of the day Conor McGregor does what he wants. And he can come back to the ring and continue his MMA journey. but, will he ever be the same elite fighter? That’s something fans would have to wait to find out.
