Conor McGregor

It is no doubt that there is no one in MMA who is better than Conor McGregor in showmanship and building up the fight. So it came as a huge surprise that The Notorious didn’t indulge in any kind of trash talk and mind games against Dustin Poirier ahead their rematch at UFC 257.

However, a defeat against The Diamond has reignited McGregor’s passion and excitement towards the sport. It looks as if he is back to his former self and has his mind set on vengeance ahead of their trilogy fight. As a result, ‘The Notorious’ has started playing mind games with ‘The Diamond’ by laying a condition to the trilogy. He posted a tweet captioned “First one to shoots a dusty bitch”.

It is clear from this tweet that Conor McGregor wants to play with the mind of Dustin Poirier. He does not want Poirier to grapple and clinch during this fight. He intends to stand and strike with ‘The Diamond’. Therefore It will be interesting whether Dustin Poirier will hit back at McGregor’s challenge.

How will Grappling affect the outcome of Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor 3?

Dustin Poirier knock Mcgregor

This is not the first time that Conor McGregor has insulted his opponents for wrestling in their fight. McGregor also laid a similar condition for the rematch against Dustin Poirier as he stated:

I fed you to the canvas in 90 seconds bro.
You should have spoke my name with a bit more respect in that build up. “McGregor’s not next”
Motherfucker, it’s McGregor always!
McGregor is the goal! Always!
Say that now and I’ll think about it.#GoneIn90seconds #NicCage #AJolie

Conor McGregor has set this condition because he knows grappling will affect his chances of winning this trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. This is because Dustin Poirier’s takedown in the rematch played a huge role as it helped him to avoid a barrage of big shots from The Irishman. The takedown also helped him to shift the momentum to his side as he later managed to knockout McGregor in the second round.

Thus Poirier will try to grapple and empty the gas tank of Conor McGregor early in the fight. As a result, grappling will play a crucial role in this fight. However, fans would like to see a striking battle between these two rivals and will be waiting for more trash talk and mind games from the two athletes leading upto the fight.
