After the best performance of his MMA career, Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the sport with an unbeaten record. Though Khabib has many super fights ahead of him he has decided to stick to the promise he made to his mother.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has not lost a single fight in his entire career. He has dominated the best of this generation at the lightweight division. And he has solidified his legacy as the greatest lightweight fighter to ever grace the octagon.
After such a long and illustrious career, one does deserve to celebrate to the fullest. However, for Khabib Nurmagomedov he always has one thing in his mind after the fight. And that is a big fat burger. Well, it did not change after his monumental win at UFC 254 as he went on to celebrate his win as well as the end of his career with some delicious burger.
Will Khabib Nurmagomedov make his UFC return?
Khabib Nurmagomedov was the same dominant champion at UFC 254. But, it was obvious that he was overwhelmed with everything that had happened outside the octagon. The demise of his father, the turbulent training camp, and the expectations did affect Khabib’s mentally.
We have seen fighters announcing retirement in the octagon and making their return a few years after. However, Khabib Nurmagomedov might not do that. He is not fighting in the UFC only for money. He can make money outside UFC as well.
However, there is only one thing that is likely to bring Khabib back to the octagon. It’s not a million-dollar rematch with Conor McGregor or it’s not the long-anticipated fight with Tony Ferguson. It might be the legacy fight with Georges St-Pierre.
UFC has announced Khabib Nurmagomedov as its P4P number 1 fighter. But, as long as the legacy of GSP is still alive in MMA, it will be hard for someone to claim that position with absolute conviction. And a win over GSP will leave no doubt among the experts and fans that Khabib is indeed the greatest of all time.
But, whether Dana White can make this fight happen is the question that the fans are eagerly waiting for.
