After Conor McGregor insulted Khabib Nurmagoedov and his father with the tweet “COVID was good and Father was evil”, Daniel Cormier has been going back and forth with Conor McGregor.
Daniel Cormier first reacted to McGregor’s tweet and criticized him for his taking a dig at Khabib’s family. In response, McGregor also took a jibe at the former UFC heavyweight champion.
Well, after Cormier advised McGregor on his ESPN show to focus on fighting and worry about the guys who are beating him in the octagon McGregor launched a series of insults towards Daniel Cormier.
Conor McGregor first called out Daniel Cormier for getting drunk ahead of UFC 264. It should be noted that Daniel Cormier was drunk when he gave his media interview for UFC 264. McGregor also called Cormier’s action disgraceful. McGregor tweeted:
Daniel Cormier is a fat mess. Getting into worse condition by the day. God bless him. Showing up drunk at media events the very day before he was in the booth calling my fight. Drunk at a media event working? The day before being a commentator on the biggest fight in history?
It is a sackable offense for a commentator to be drunk at presswork the day before commentating the big fight. Dreadful! Get it together. Belching in the mic at a press event and all wtf. The day before commenting the big fight? Is this guy serious? Disgraceful.
Conor McGregor is getting in the headlines for all the wrong reasons
The whole situation between Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier is unwarranted. Both have been respectful towards each other on multiple occasions. However, McGregor insulting Khabib’s father did upset Cormier who is a long-time teammate of Khabib Nurmagomedov.
Nevertheless, Conor McGregor does need to focus on his rehab and aim for a successful comeback. It can not be denied that the aura of McGregor is over after the last two fights with Dustin Poirier. Conor McGregor was considered nearly unbeatable in the first two rounds. But, Poirier beat him twice inside the first two rounds even though the trilogy ended in an anti-climatic fashion.
Now the odds are against McGregor once again as he has to prove that he can still compete with the elite UFC lightweights.
