Khamzat Chimaev, popularly known as ‘Borz’ in the UFC community, made his UFC debut in July 2020 at Fight Island, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The 29-year-old fighter holds ninth place in the UFC’s middleweight rankings. After his back-to-back spectaculars, Chimaev has become a threat in the welterweight and middleweight divisions.

The entire MMA community believes that Khamzat has a lot of recovery work to go through following his severe illness and health issues. Chimaev does care about his fans and keeps maintaining a close relationship with them.
Following his recent conversation on X, it seems clear that Chimaev has been severely battling with illness over the Christmas period. He tweeted, “I was very sick, my hand was injured, so I couldn’t return right away. I want to tell all the fountains (fans), I want to see myself in battle more than all of you, I love this job, I will do and prove that I am the best. As we always we do, and I will be back soon to (Insha’allah) training”.
Seeing him in an oxygen mask, in a very poor physical state, and with a broken hand, fans voiced their prayers and heartbreaking reactions. One of his fans gave a shocking expression on X and wrote, “He does look really bad, wonder what he had/has”.
Chimaev’s broken shape after a solid victory against Kumaru Usman made fans a bit worried to watch him again inside the octagon. However, his just one good presence on X gets back a sigh of relief for his fans.
What happened to Khamzat Chimaev?
It is already a heartbreaking sight for Khamzat Chimaev’s fans to see his face extremely swollen. After the last fight against Kumaru Usman in October, Chimaev is dealing with a rash that covers his whole upper body and has to apply ventilator treatment in the hospital. Since he suffered from a really bad scare during the COVID pandemic, he shattered his dearest fans with his health update on social media.
Needless to say, Chimaev is unstoppable with his high-powered force inside the octagon and still holds a strong capability of proving his talent and love for the sport. His reckless fighting technique has earned a huge fan base and is called one of the fan-favorite personalities in the company.

Chimaev managed to make his voice loud to stay active and hope to be connected to the sport ahead of UFC 300. On that note, he posted a video on X (Twitter) saying, “I’m coming back soon, for my belts”. However, his disease still remains a mystery to his fans. Like many fighters, ‘Borz’ is also looking forward to participating in the upcoming UFC 300 card. The event is expected to be scheduled in April 2024.
