Colby Covington recently appeared alongside Submission Radio in a fun-filled typical Covington interview where the former interim champion had a lot of things to say about his opponents in the welterweight division. However, what caught everybody’s attention is Colby’s verbal trash against former welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson.
“Let’s also talk about Wonderboy. This guy is a 40-year old man, claiming to be a boy. You can identify yourself with whatever you want these days. If you want to be a boy, he is a 40-year old man who drives around with his karate family and karate kids and watches cartoons.”

Stephen Thompson has been quite vocal on social media in recent times. Just recently, Thompson stated that Covington’s boxing skills are below-par and that he could beat him inside the Octagon. Thompson is eyeing a potential title fight against Kamaru Usman. Soon after reports of a potential rematch between Leon Edwards and Belal Muhammad after the nasty eye poke resulted in a no-contest at UFC Vegas 21, Thompson called out Usman for the UFC’s welterweight championship.

What’s next for Colby Covington?
Gilbert Burns had called out Colby Covington after failing to get his hands at the UFC’s welterweight gold early this year. Burns took to Twitter and asked fight fans who should be his next opponent. Needless to say, many fans pointed towards Covington. However, Chaos has shown no interest and is willing to wait for his championship opportunity.

“Gilbert Burns, you are coming off a knockout loss. You are a lightweight wash-out. You need to go back and beat a couple of bums at lightweight.” Covington said.
It will be interesting to see what lies ahead for Colby Covington. With rumors of a potential Kamaru Usman vs Jorge Masvidal rematch and Leon Edwards back in the UFC’s welterweight rankings, it will be interesting to see if Covington will get a title opportunity next.
