The rivalry between Colby Covington and Dustin Poirier is well known to MMA fans. Colby Covington is not the one to hold back while predicting fights. He predicted Poirier to lose against Khabib and he is also predicting another loss for his former teammate at UFC 257.
Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier get into the octagon in the main event of UFC 257. This much-anticipated rematch will also mark the return of Conor McGregor. The rematch is likely to end differently than the first fight. However, Covington is confident that it’ll be another brutal loss for Dustin Poirier. Covington stated:
“Tonight we’re back at UFC 257 and in the main event, we got Con-Man McGregor vs the beta man ultimate feelings champion Dustin Sorrier. Dustin, I’m not like that Judas you’re hanging around that’s gonna be rooting against you behind your back. I tell you straight up to your face. This weekend is no different. You were hand-selected because you can’t wrestle and you’re easy to hit. Since there is no bet or prop on you crying this weekend we’re gonna take the next best thing – you dying. Once Dustin gets sparked he’s gonna be crying in the press conference.”
Can Dustin Poirier prove Colby Covington wrong?
Colby Covington might have crossed the limit again with the way he has predicted the fight but he might be right about Poirier losing to McGregor in the rematch. Even the majority of the fans believe that McGregor will finish the fight early.
However, if Dustin Poirier can survive the early storm and pick up the pace in the later rounds then he has a solid chance to win against McGregor. Poirier’s chin has looked better in his last few fight. And it can be assumed that he can withstand the power of McGregor.
However, Conor is very sharp and precise. He is explosive and goes for the finish as soon as the bell rings. Poirier has to offset his rhythm by mixing up his wrestling with striking. Besides that, Poirier’s leg kicks will have a huge impact on the outcome.
Nevertheless, it would be a fun fight for the fans. However, with the recent remarks of Covington, there is certainly no love lost between these two former teammates.
