Conor McGregor had a run-in with the law again as he was arrested in Corsica while preparing for a water bike race to create awareness on water safety.
As per the reports, the former UFC champion was taken into custody on Saturday on the basis of attempted sexual assault allegations.
The prosecutor’s office stated that: “Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony Mac Gregor was the subject of a hearing by the police,”.
Moments later a representative of Conor McGregor issued a statement to TMZ and later confirmed to MMA Fighting that, McGregor has denied all the allegations. The statement said:
“Conor McGregor vigorously denies any accusations of misconduct. He has been interviewed and released.”
While the fans are confused with the situation considering the former UFC champion, his manager Auddie Attar broke the silence and stated:
“I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear: Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday,”
Fans still await the return of Conor McGregor
As per the reports obtained so far, it is safe to believe that McGregor has been falsely alleged and is safe. However, this has created obstacles in his water bike race for which he has been training intensely for the last few weeks.
This is not the first time to McGregor went into trouble outside the UFC octagon. Though Conor McGregor might actually be completely innocent in this scenario the news does upset the fans of the Irish fighter. The fans have been eagerly waiting to see their favorite fighter inside the octagon. However, Conor McGregor is officially retired as per his past statements. Even UFC president, Dana White does not believe that McGregor is playing the retirement card for leverage with UFC.
Though McGregor’s fighting career is in uncertainty the former champion is still under the USADA testing pool. He is also present in UFC lightweight rankings. And that can be an indication that McGregor does want to make an octagon return and is just waiting for the right opponent.
And that opponent might be Nick Diaz. The former UFC welterweight will make his return in early 2021. Considering Conor McGregor has already called out the Diaz brothers it won’t be a surprise if UFC makes this fight happen.
