UFC 250 is in the books now and we saw some spectacular performances. Amanda Nunes put up yet another dominant performance to make history, Sean O Malley delivered a walkout KO, Aljamain Sterling grabs a quick submission victory and probably the highlight of the night was when Cody Garbrandt shut the lights out of his opponent. However, a certain announcement from the former lightweight champion, Conor McGregor created a massive buzz in the MMA community.

Conor McGregor announces shocking retirement

Conor McGregor last entered into the UFC octagon in UFC 246 against Donald Cerrone. Mcgregor would pick up a quick TKO victory and wait for his turn to get another title shot at the lightweight division. However, due to the pandemic outbreak, Conor McGregor has not made his return in the summer as expected. He is not fighting for any UFC title. And he currently does not has any opponents scheduled in the nearest future.

Joe Rogan laughs at Conor McGregor announcing retirement

Keeping that in mind, Conor’s retirement news seemed a bit shocking to some of the fans. Conor said:

“Hey guys I’ve decided to retire from fighting. Thank you all for the amazing memories! What a ride it’s been! Here is a picture of myself and my mother in Las Vegas post one of my World title wins! Pick the home of your dreams Mags I love you! Whatever you desire it’s yours

However, it’s not the first time Conor has announced retirement. And he has not been able to fool UFC analyst, Joe Rogan this time. When asked about Conor’s retirement, Rogan said that he is not buying it for a second.

“I don’t buy it for a second. I think Conor McGregor is trying to get you to talk about it and he just did. What better way to get people to talk about him when there is a spectacular fight filled with people dominating. What he did was just hijack the whole situation and says he’s retiring.” said Rogan in the post-fight interview on ESPN.

Even the lightweight interim champion mocked Conor McGregor following him announcing retirement. Gaethje said:

“Thankfully all of the elderly are still hiding in their homes. This guy is on another bender. Propershit”
