Darren Till returned to the UFC to fight Dricus du Plessis on the main card of UFC 282. After an absence of a year, fans were really interested in seeing how the bout would go. Till, raised the expectations when he walked out to Andrew Tate’s theme song. But, the result ultimately did not go his way as du Plessis got the win in the final round.
The bout started with Dricus walking down Till and landing some big strikes. However, the South African was not just a one-dimensional fighter and soon displayed that he has a very high fight IQ. Darren is a dangerous fighter on his feet, hence Dricus dragged him down to the ground. Although he could not hold the Brit there for long enough, Dricus pinned Till on the cage and landed some huge strikes.
A statement submission for @DricusduPlessis!

UFC commentator Joe Rogan claimed that Dricus won round 1 comfortably and it should have been a 10-8 round. Although Till had a resurgence in round 2, Dricus locked in a kneebar in the round which reportedly hurt the ACL in his left knee. Darren could not build on the momentum he created in round 2 and Dricus got the submission via neck crank at the 2:43 minute mark of the last round.
Fans react to Darren Till losing against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 282
Darren Till needed to win the bout desperately to save his career from declining any further. Ahead of the bout, he had two successive losses to Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson. However, it looked like Till lost his killer instinct during the bout and could not apply any sort of pressure. Even his grappling did not look sharp, despite spending time with Khamzat Chimaev.
This loss means that the Gorilla now has 5 career losses. Unfortunately for Till, all those losses came in his last 6 bouts in the UFC. If Till’s assumption of hurting the ACL on his left knee is indeed true, it will mean that Darren will spend a significant period on the sidelines once more. Hence, fans do not sound very optimistic about his future in the UFC.
Here are some fan reactions on the matter
It’s time to retire Darren Till

It’s done man. Couldn’t have had a better opportunity.
Hasbullah can take him down
Darren Till needs to find a new gym or retire. Respectfully Du Plessis isn’t that good, he gassed and Till had the finish but stood there and feinted 100 times #UFC282

Darren Till should he genuinely consider retirement. He’s not good, I’d even go as far as saying he’s VERY bad, I feel bad for him but he’s let himself go. Retire man.

Darren Till should retire from MMA. Due to injury or something else, he just cannot grapple now that he’s facing people the same size as him. #UFC282
