In a recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Dustin Poirier recalled the backstage interaction with Dan Hooker and stated:
“He sounded like he was in a lot of pain. But after the doctor left I started talking to him. And I told him that I wish him well. And I hope that he has safe travel back and he gets to see his family. I am a father as well. I have a little girl just like him. So I wish him the best and I hope he sees his family.”
The good guy of MMA, Poirier further stated:
“I feel sad for him. It sucks. But two weeks will go by. And he will be reunited with his family as long as he is healthy and safe. So life is good. It sucks to see that picture and sad to be away from his family for two weeks. But all in all, everything is great.”
