Israel Adesanya defends his UFC middleweight title against Marvin Vettori in a rematch at UFC 263. The fans were expecting to see a rematch between Adesanya and Whittaker but UFC ended up finalizing a rematch with Vettori.
If you look at the current landscape in the middleweight division, Marvin Vettori does not deserve a title fight coming up a win against Kevin Holland who got dominated by Derek Brunson as well. However, this fight is an intriguing matchup as the first encounter between the two rivals was a close affair.
Though Israel Adesanya clearly won the fight Marvin Vettori had some success in the final round. And even in the standup, Vettori was not outclassed by Adesanya. Both Adesanya and Vettori have improved significantly and that’s why the rematch is going to be a lot different.
Besides that, there is bad blood between the two that will make the fight even more exciting for the fans. Well, the fans got to see a glimpse of this rivalry during a recent interview with Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori.

Things get heated between Israel Adesanya and Marvin Vettori
These two welterweight elites traded verbal jabs with each other and things got heated during the interview. Adesanya mocked Vettori for believing that he won the first fight and said:
“The fact that he actually still thinks and holds on to that loss like the best win. You are holding on to that loss, it’s not a fact you could ask anyone. Let it go. They talk about improvements, if you look at my improvements over how many fights and his improvements over how many fights, they are vastly different. We’re not the same. We’re not even in the same stratosphere. Understand that.”

Israel Adesanya claimed that Vettori winning the fight on one judge’s scorecard was a result of bad judging and said he promised that the rematch will not go 5 rounds. Adesanya stated:
“Listen this time I’m gonna finish the job. Last time you had hope. You had hope because one dumb judge gave you that f****g fight. This time I’m gonna make sure to finish the job with no doubt.”
Marvin Vettori also did not hold back as he called out Adesanya for his eye poke in the first fight and pointed out his loss to Jan Blachwicz.
It’s needless to say that Adesanya and Vettori do not like each other. And it’s very likely that irrespective of the outcome of the rematch the bad blood will still be there.
