Former UFC light heavyweight champion and one of the greatest of all time, Jon Jones has been criticized for his recent actions a lot by the MMA community.
It’s not the first time Jon Jones has gotten into legal trouble for his actions outside the octagon. Throughout his MMA career, Jones has been arrested multiple times. But this accident was certainly shocking to the MMA fans.
Jon Jones was arrested a few hours after his induction to the UFC Hall of Famer for the iconic title defense against Alexander Gustafsson. Jones seemed in a great mood as he talked about his UFC return and his goal to be the future heavyweight champion.
But, a few hours after that, the news of Jones getting arrested by Las Vegas PD sent shock waves through the MMA community. Moreover, the disturbing details on the incident released by the police department do not do any favor to the former champion.
Jon Jones addresses his recent arrest in Las Vegas
It’s safe to say that Jones’ back is against the wall. But, it seems he understands the mistake he has committed as he took it to social media to address the situation.
Jon Jones posted a video of him working out earlier today. He blamed the consumption of too much alcohol for this incident. Jones stated:
“I have way too much trauma to consume alcohol, my brain simply can’t handle it anymore. I will leave alcohol in my past forever.”
“Now is the time to work harder than ever. Turn this nightmare into the best thing to ever happen in my life. What the devil means for bad, God means for good.”
Jon Jones is aiming to make his heavyweight debut in the second quarter of 2022. The fans were hyped to see arguably the greatest of all time compete in an entirely new division after dominating the light heavyweight division for a decade.
However, this controversy surrounding Jon Jones will certainly not paint a good image among the fans. Jones is due a visit to the court on October 26th. And the fans will have to wait how things play out legally for Jon Jones in the coming days.
