Will Khabib Nurmagomedov make his return to UFC after his victory over Justin Gaethje? This question has been bothering the fight fans for a while now.
Recently Khabib’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz recently teased the return of the Eagle. The UFC lightweight champion also shared a post of him taking the USADA test, which confirmed the speculation of him getting back into the octagon.
UFC president, Dana White opens up on Khabib Nurmagomedov possibly returning to the octagon. AFter DWCS, White told to the reporters that he strongly believes Khabib is going to come back for one more fight. White stated:
“I told you guys that I think he is gonna go to 30. he is still testing. Why the hell you wanna test if you are not gonna fight. He has not committed but I feel like he’s gonna. And I’m not pushing him. We talked about it. he just fought. let him take some time, spend some time with the family, spend the holidays.”
Dana White also confirmed that he is willing to wait for Khabib to defend his lightweight title. And the upcoming fight between Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier will not be for the title.
Who should Khabib Nurmagomedov fight next?
A legacy fight with Georges St-Pierre makes the most sense for Khabib Nurmagomedov. A win over GSP will help him achieve the GOAT status that he has aspired for during his MMA career. However, there are a few other options for Khabib in the lightweight division.
The winner of Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor might go-ahead to challenge for the UFC lightweight title. Besides that, the much-anticipated fight against Tony Ferguson will always be appealing to the fans.
But, Khabib Nurmagomedov has said repeatedly that a fight against GSP intrigues him more than any other fights in the lightweight division. However, whether UFC can make this fight happen is something we will have to wait to find out.
