Renowned comedian and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is one of the most influential figures on the planet right now. While the 55-year-old has worn several hats in his 20+ years career, fans best know him for The Joe Rogan Experience. Rogan has garnered a massive audience worldwide using what is arguably the biggest podcast on the internet.
Having had guests ranging from Elon Musk to Kanye West, guests have often used the platform to share uniquely engaging stories. However, there have been times when Joe would share stories from his own past with the listeners. One such incident happened during the latest episode of his show, having Don Flores as the guest.
In what appears to be an emotional account, a teary-eyed Joe goes on in great detail about his late dog. “I had this dog, rest in peace, his name is Johnny Cash. He was the best dog,” shared Rogan. “I’ll get sad. Let me catch my breath because I really loved that dog. This dog, he was just a sweetheart. But he was a big dog, he was a Regency Mastiff. His father was actually on Fear Factor. My dog’s dad was [also] in the movie, ‘The Hulk.'”
“So anyway, I had his son and he was the f**king best,” continued Rogan before diving into an interesting story. The UFC commentator shared that Johnny’s breeds are trained to possess zero aggression toward humans and other animals. Rogan then shares an incident where he had built a coop specifically to protect his farm chickens from coyotes.

However, according to Joe, the coyotes found a way to befriend Johnny Cash in their attempt to get closer to the chickens. As per the story, Joe’s dog would mistake the wild coyotes to be different forms of dog, eventually helping them find their way to the coop. This would lead to the coyotes stealing and eating Rogan’s chickens.
Unfortunately, by the end of this, Joe’s dog would go on to kill 9 chickens by himself. Rogan shared that he believed the coyotes taught him their ways before they would leave the yard. Years later, Johnny Cash passed away in July 2018.
Joe Rogan has a golden retriever named Marshall Mae Rogan
It is clear that Rogan is an animal lover. In his life so far, he has owned a chicken coop, a pair of cats, a Mastiff, and now a golden retriever named Marshall Mae Rogan. Marshall’s Instagram would make many influencers jealous, after all, his account boasts a staggering 754K followers.
Fans think of Rogan to be a pretty tough guy, but when it comes to his canines, they seem to easily melt his heart. Thanks to their bond, Marshall has had the opportunity to meet quite a few celebrities from UFC champions to politicians.

Much like Johnny Cash, Marshall is also a chicken coop protector. According to the comedian, his household has something of a squirrel problem, and Marshall isn’t having any of it.
“We had some squirrels stealing eggs, we had a real issue with that. But Marshall took care of that,” Rogan said. “Marshall just f**ks up squirrels, dude. Marshall is the sweetest dog of all time, unless you’re a squirrel.”
Since making the move to Austin, Texas, Marshall has made sure to keep chasing squirrels, while keeping his huge fanbase up to date. What was your take on Joe’s story? Let us know in the comments down below.
