Joe Rogan is currently one of the most talked-about people in the world. Rogan is a UFC commentator and a martial artist. Any avid combat sports follower knows that Rogan hosts a podcast named ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’.
Rogan invites people on his podcast and discusses a lot of things. His wide range of guests includes athletes to scientists and Hollywood stars. One of the regular guests of JRE is Rogan’s close friend and the founder of 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu Eddie Bravo.
In a recent episode of JRE, Rogan got emotional while discussing how Bravo submitted ADCC Hall of Famer Royler Gracie in a grappling tournament. Rogan went to Brazil with his friend Bravo, who was a huge underdog against Gracie at that time. He said: “I was in Brazil in 2003 for the Abu Dhabi world championships.”
Rogan said that it was one of the greatest experiences in his life. He praised Bravo’s skills and stated that he was crying out of joy. He added:
“Eddie has crazy flexibility and leg dexterity… If you’re in his guard, you’re fu**ed, and Royler didn’t know it. He was in Eddie’s guard and Eddie just slapped that triangle on him and started pulling the head and Royler tapped. It was insane. I was crying. I’ll cry right now… One of the greatest experiences of my life. I get emotional right now talking about it.”

Rogan revealed that even Bravo was too shocked to realize that he had submitted Gracie. After the match, Bravo embraced Rogan and it was a very emotional moment.
Eddie Bravo founded 10th Planet jiu-jitsu after beating Royler Gracie
Joe Rogan stated that Eddie Bravo beating Gracie is one of the biggest moments in both of their lives. Bravo started the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu right after his big win over Gracie. He was a brown belt at that time and was training under Jean Jacques Machado.
Rogan is also a regular practitioner of BJJ and he got his black belt under Bravo in 2012. As per Rogan, Royler Gracie was more accomplished than his brother and grappling legend Royce Gracie.
In the same episode, Rogan said: “Eddie Bravo was over there competing. That was the year that he tapped out Royler Gracie. It was the craziest upset ever. It was insane… He wasn’t even a black belt yet. Eddie was a brown belt.”
Shortly after this tournament, Bravo was given the black belt by Machado. He is a third-degree black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu now and his gym has housed UFC fighters like Ronda Rousey, Alan Jouban, Kelvin Gastelum, Tony Ferguson, and more.
