Kevin Holland and Khamzat Chimaev are undoubtedly two of the biggest up-and-coming stars of UFC. Both Chimaev and Holland had an amazing 2020 where Chimaev secured 3 wins while Holland secured 5 wins.
Khamzat Chimaev competes at UFC welterweight division and Holland competes at the middleweight division. So one would expect that there would not be any rivalry between the two considering their difference in the weight class. However, it seems Holland and Chimaev do not like each other.
Kevin Holland calls out Israel Adesanya for lying
On the media day for UFC Vegas 22, Kevin Holland talked about an intense altercation with Khamzat Chimaev in a hotel’s lobby. Holland recalled that he was very close to being jumped by Chimaev and his entourage. Holland recalled the meeting:
“It was not like a fight. It was like he saw me I saw him. He walked in and I was like “Oh, look my best friend is here”. granted there is a language barrier and he probably did not understand that I was being sarcastic. So he was like, ‘oh you wanna be friends now.”
“I was like “F**k No, Never, Why would I be friends with you?” And then somebody from behind me was like ‘Kevin there are a lot of them and it’s just one of you’.”
“And I’m like I am not worried about it. I drove out here, I got dildos in my car. I am ready to f**k that boy. So never really worried about these guys. Hope he gets better. I would love to fight him one day.”
Should Khamzat Chimaev fight Kevin Holland?
Kevin Holland and Khamzat Chimaev can be huge stars in their respective division. Both the fighters are very similar in attitude. They both want to fight every other weekend and they know how to please the crowd with vicious finishes.
However, booking a fight between the two so early in their UFC career might not be the best call. Chimaev and Holland might cross paths in the future but at the moment UFC should allow them to climb the rankings in their respective division.
But, the fans can’t help but imagine how the fight will play out between two of the most exciting fighters in the UFC.
