Conor McGregor will face Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight on 10th July at UFC 264. Moreover, the Notorious will look to avenge his loss against the Diamond at UFC 257 and earn his way towards a lightweight title shot against Charles Oliveira.
In the build-up for this fight, McGregor has mentioned in an interview last month that he has to make slight adjustments from the last fight to defeat Poirier. From The Irishman’s comments, it seems like he has accepted his mistakes and is training very seriously for the fight. Unlike the last fight where it looked like Conor McGregor lacked motivation. It was a very weird Conor McGregor fight as The Notorious didn’t engage in any kind of trash talk and was very respectful towards Dustin Poirier. But The Irishman has found his old mojo back ahead of this trilogy fight. He has already started playing mind games with Dustin Poirier to throw him off his game before the fight.
On the occasion of Father’s day, Conor McGregor went on Instagram to post a picture congratulating all the real men.

However, If we take a closer into the picture it looks like McGregor has a black eye. It is most likely that he took a good hit during a sparring session which resulted in a black eye. This means that McGregor is leaving no stone unturned for his fight against Dustin Poirier.
How is Conor McGregor preparing for his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier?
After his defeat against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257, Conor McGregor believes that he has figured out a way to defeat ‘The Diamond’. To prepare for this trilogy fight McGregor was training alone in UAE. He was training at UFC’s gym in Dubai to be in good physical condition. But the official training camp started after the arrival of his coaches John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy in May. However, The Irishman has made massive changes as he is training away from his family.
McGregor has made another big change as he has relocated his training camp from Dubai to California last week ahead of this trilogy fight. The Irishman is trying to replicate the Jose Aldo training regimen for his fight against Dustin Poirier. McGregor revealed that in the Jose Aldo camp he used to wake up, train, eat and get some rest, train again, sleep and repeat.
This fight against Dustin Poirier will be a make-or-break fight for The Notorious because if he wins he will get a title opportunity against Charles Do Bronx. But a loss will put a big dent in his legacy in the promotion. In the end, McGregor’s fans will hope that he wins this fight and rises to become the force he was once in the UFC.
