UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is currently enjoying his life outside the Octagon following his UFC 287 win over Alex Pereira. With the win, Adesanya got back his swagger as well and went on a virtual rampage on anybody and everybody who has ever wronged him. From the Kiwi media to Pereira, nobody was safe from Izzy’s wrath. However, the person who got the worst of it, was Izzy’s ex-girlfriend, Charlotte Powdrell.
So what was the reason behind Izzy’s attack on Powdrell? In an email on December 18, 2021, Adesanya let out all his pent-up aggression and called her a “brat” for making him spend money instead of motivating him to be more financially responsible. But that’s not all, he also alleged that Powdrell “sold info” about the UFC champion.
Although he never spoke publicly about his initial break-up, Adesanya decided enough was enough and the time was right for him to tell his story. However, that move may cost him dearly! In a recent podcast on his own YouTube channel, UFC bantamweight fighter Sean O’Malley revealed that Adesanya may get sued for half his net worth for coming out against his girlfriend.
The UFC middleweight champ has a reported net worth of $4 million. Hence, if Powdrell is successful in her reported attempts of suing Izzy for half of everything he has, she may up with assets worth $2 million. However, Sean O’Malley does not think it is fair.
He added, “I don’t know how their relationship was because I didn’t even know he had a girlfriend, but to want half of what he’s gone out there and done is absolutely ridiculous.” (h/t via Suga)
Fans react to Israel Adesanya potentially getting sued by his ex-girlfriend
In his email, it was quite evident that Adesanya was expecting a move from Charlotte Powdrell to take legal action against him. However, there is no official report of any follow-ups from Charlotte’s legal team on the matter. “The Last Stylebender” also drew a parallel between his situation and soccer star Achraf Hakimi’s. Hakimi’s wife, Hina Abouk, sued him for half of his properties following their divorce.
He also mentioned that during his Instagram rant and claimed “entitled” women think they “deserve” half of their man’s assets. Following the latest reports of Adesanya possibly getting sued, fans could not keep their calm and rushed to the fighter’s defense. It seems like the public sentiment is overwhelmingly in favor of the Kiwi MMA fighter.
