Not many UFC fighters have successfully transitioned into acting successfully. From Rampage Jackson to Ronda Rousey, a lot of fighters tried out their hand at acting, and have failed to make a mark. The only MMA fighter who had a good acting career is Gina Carano. However, former UFC double champ Conor McGregor looks to join Carano in having a successful Hollywood career.
Conor McGregor is playing a crucial role in the upcoming “Road House” remake. Acclaimed Hollywood superstar Jake Gyllenhaal is playing the lead role in the movie. By the looks of it, Gyllenhaal will play a UFC fighter turned who later turned into a bouncer. Conor, on the other hand, is going to play the role of his rival. They shot parts of the movie during the UFC 285 fight week.

But, it looks like even before his debut movie comes out, Conor has picked a fight with a renowned Hollywood superstar. The actor is none other than Charlie Hunnam. Apparently, “The Notorious One” owes Hunnam some money. So the question arises, what really went down between the two and how much money does Conor owe Charlie? Let’s find out.
How much money does Conor McGregor owe Charlie Hunnam?
Charlie Hunnam is a certified box office draw. He has acted in movies like “Pacific Rim,” “Crimson Peak,” “The Gentlemen,” and perhaps the most famous project of his career, the TV show “Sons of Anarchy.” As per Celebrity Net Worth, Charlie is worth $20 million. So the actor has made a decent chunk of money throughout his acting career.
In 2017, Charlie starred in a movie on the legendary tale of King Arthur by the name”King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” However, one thing that many fans do not know, the character was partly inspired by the former UFC champ, Conor McGregor. The influence was clear in the way Charlie played the character. Ahead of the film’s release, Charlie admitted to channeling his inner McGregor during the shooting.
However, Charlie did not just want to watch McGregor’s clips in preparation. He even wanted to meet the Irish superstar. But Conor ultimately could not make it due to a change in schedule. However, Hunnam was fully prepared to meet the UFC fighter and bought an expensive suit worth $4000.
Speaking about it, Charlie added, “You can’t show up looking shabby to see Mr. McGregor… So, Mr. McGregor, you owe me the price of a very good suit.” Revealing the actual price, Hunnam said, “It was expensive. I mean it was like 4000 bucks.” (h/t via James DeWeaver)
Why did McGregor ditch Charlie Hunnam?
Conor McGregor won the World MMA Awards’ “Fighter of the Year” in both 2015 and 2016. But Conor did not show up either time to collect his award. However, during his pre-recorded acceptance speech, Conor apologized for not being able to attend the event. In his typical fashion McGregor revealed that he could not be present due to his training.
During one such occasion, it was the Hollywood superstar Charlie Hunnam, who was scheduled to hand him the award. Charlie, who was a big admirer of the then-featherweight champion, was excited to meet the Dublin native as well. But Conor could not be present.
Hence, a disappointed Charlie added, “I actually once was scheduled to go to Las Vegas to present him Mixed Martial Artist of the year award… and then literally like two days before he changed the schedule and he could not get there.”
So it looks like Charlie Hunnam was just joking about the fact that Conor (net worth $200 million) owes him money and he does not hold any grudge against the aspiring actor. However, during a TMZ interview in November 2015, Charlie did add that he wanted to fight Conor.
However, that came out of a place of admiration, instead of any malice. Charlie was also in attendance for UFC 194, where Conor KO’ed Jose Aldo to win the undisputed UFC featherweight title.
