However, his defeat against Dustin Poirier has raised certain question marks over his legacy. Ahead of the trilogy UFC president Dana White commented in an interview ” I don’t know man. Whether the pressure is there for Conor or not just depends on what Conor wants to do after this fight win, lose or draw. I don’t know the answer to that question. Only Conor does you know. Does Conor want to become the number one contender again? Does he want to win that title or is he looking at you know this is my last run and then I retire? I don’t know what he’s thinking and what he’s doing in his head. But obviously, if you look at this thing if he does want to make another title run. Then this is a very important fight and to get the best of the trilogy. It’s important for his legacy.

The Irishman has expressed his interest in facing Charles Oliveira for the lightweight belt after he defeats The Diamond at UFC 264. But if he loses his fight against Dustin Poirier there will be serious question marks regarding his future in UFC.
