It looks like Floyd Mayweather is not quite happy with Conor McGregor’s decision to call-out Manny Pacquiao for a potential showdown inside the boxing ring in 2021. Earlier, the former dual champion had called out the former eight-division champion for a scarp inside the boxing ring. In a potential second cross-sport mega-showdown between UFC and boxing, Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao has the makings of one of the greatest spectacles in the history of combat sports. However, Floyd Mayweather feels otherwise.
“He’s not going to get the money he got with me if he go with Pacquiao,’’ Mayweather said. “It’s not going to be as big. You know, it gets no bigger than Floyd Mayweather.’’
Floyd “Money” Mayweather fights have resulted in the biggest revenue margins in the history of boxing entertainment. It should come with no surprise that the undefeated boxing champion feels that the McGregor vs Pacquiao fight may not come close to the epic proportion that the hugely anticipated “Money Fight” was able to achieve. However, that might not be the case.
Floyd Mayweather is 43 and has not competed inside the boxing ring ever since the TKO win over Conor McGregor. On the other side, Pacquiao has continued his spectacular run, winning the welterweight title back in July last year. Earlier, when McGregor had announced his retirement, Mayweather had sent out a tweet welcoming McGregor’s decision and opening himself for a hugely anticipated rematch. However, McGregor’s decision to go with Manny Pacquiao is definitely surprising.
Conor McGregor vs Manny Pacquiao is as big as it gets
Conor McGregor is the biggest name in the history of combat sports. The Notorious‘s return to the boxing ring should be enough to bring in huge numbers. Additionally, fan-favorite Manny Pacuiqao against the former dual champion is a match-up for the ages.
Conor McGregor is scheduled to take on Dustin Poirier in a potential #1 contender’s match for the UFC’s lightweight championship. Poirier has stated that McGregor’s decision to fight him could have a lot to do with his southpaw stance that could help McGregor significantly in his fight against Manny Pacquiao.
The Notorious has never looked better and could prove to be an even bigger threat inside the boxing ring than the first time around.
