Jon Jones has been out of action over the last two years. His last bout came in 2020 when he defended his UFC Light-Heavyweight championship against Dominick Reyes. With nothing left to prove in his weight class, Jones decided to move up to the Heavyweight division.
While his debut fight at Heavyweight has not been officially announced just yet, it is suggested that Jones will be taking on former Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic upon his return.
On paper, a potential bout with Stipe Miocic looks like the toughest fight Jon Jones could be in for his debut. However, Jones’ sparring partner Yorgan De Castro has claimed that ‘Bones’ will beat Miocic with ease. De Castro said:
“I think Jones will run through Stipe. I think he will take him down and win by TKO. He’s been walking around at 255 pounds but is so strong and cardio will be the key. He has so much cardio. He hits pads for two hours and doesn’t slow down.”

Stipe Miocic himself has been out of action since March 2021 after suffering a loss to Francis Ngannou. With both Miocic and Jones having a lot on the line upon their return, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top if they enter the octagon against each other.
Can Jon Jones become the UFC Heavyweight champion?
Jon Jones is widely considered to be the greatest mixed martial artist of all time. Having proven his greatness in the Light-Heavyweight division, Jones is hungry to leave his mark in the Heavyweight division as well.

It is worth noting that the Heavyweight division in the UFC is stacked from top to bottom. It is safe to say that it will certainly not be light work for Jon Jones. However, with the fighting acumen that he has, nothing seems too far-fetched, not even the UFC Heavyweight championship.
Jon Jones will look to start his run in the division with a bang and potentially even get the title shot soon after. It will be interesting to see if ‘Bones’ is able to get his hands on the UFC Heavyweight gold or not.
