Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal will finally come face to face inside an Octagon at UFC 272. After years of heated exchanges and accusatory statements, the pair will have the opportunity to settle their beef on March 6.
Although Masvidal and Covington don’t see eye to eye on several issues, they both admire Donald Trump. Colby is a very vocal supporter of the Trump family. From attending the presidential debates to reading Trump Jr’s book at a press conference, the former interim welterweight champ has left no stone unturned to show his administration for the 45th president of the United States of America.
But according to Jorge Masvidal, it’s all an act and the former president is aware of it. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, the ‘Street Jesus‘ spoke on the antics of his former teammate. He said,
“When he started the gimmick, he was just wanting to get attached with something that was producing a lot of volume. Everybody was talking about Trump, whether you loved him or hated him. So, next time you see Colby, just ask him, ‘what’s your favourite law that Trump passed? Or that he changed? What’s your favourite thing that Trump did for America? See what he tells you.”
“There’s a reason why Trump doesn’t go to his fights. You know, He (Trump) fu***ng thinks the guy (Colby) is full of sh*t too, I’m sure. Trump was just using him as promotion. He’s getting all of these free promotion off of him. Why not? I think Trump himself, Trump Sr sees through the fu***ng charlatan that he is.”
Jorge Masvidal gives his official prediction for UFC 272
Jorge Masvidal is known to finish his in devastating fashion. He has finished the likes of Darren Till and Ben Askren in some of his recent victories. Although he couldn’t finish Nate Diaz at UFC 244, Masvidal battered Diaz for 3 rounds. Ironically, the event was attended by Donald Trump.
In the interview, Gamebred was asked for a prediction. The two-time welterweight title contender stated that he wants to leave Covington in a critical condition. Masvidal wants to put a life-altering beating on Covington. The 37-year old added,
“Colby is in critical condition on Monday (after the fight), you know. It’s bad, he’s gonna have a couple of eye orbital fractures. A couple of breaks here and there. The main thing is that I wanna change his life man. I wanna change his life in a very drastic way.”
Jorge Masvidal further went on to say that he will do everything in his power to make it happen. Although the fight is almost 3 weeks away, the intensity is very apparent in Masvidal’s voice. It is certainly shaping up to be a blockbuster of a show.
