Conor McGregor is inactive in his MMA career as he is recovering from the leg injury he suffered at UFC 264. However, he is still in the headlines. And his recent scuffle with rapper Machine Gun Kelly has certainly had the MMA world talking.
Conor McGregor attended the MTV VMA 2021 to present an award to Justin Beiber. However, on the red carpet, McGregor crossed paths with rapper Machine Gun Kelly and he almost got in a brawl.
The reason for the brawl is still unknown. Reports said that McGregor asked MGK for a picture and MGK turned him down. But, McGregor issued a statement after the incident and stated that:
“Absolutely nothing(when asked what happened with MGK on the red carpet). I don’t know, I just showed up, I don’t even know the guy. I only fight real fighters, I don’t fight little vanilla ice white rappers. I don’t even know the guy except that he’s with Megan Fox.“
Well, the MMA world is buzzing after Conor McGregor threw drinks at Machine Gun Kelly, who has been controversial at times. Many fans seem to support McGregor in this incident as MGK is one of the polarizing figures in the music industry.
But, UFC welterweight, Jorge Masvidal seems to be rooting for MGK as he tweeted:
“Yo Triller set this up. In a five rounder I got my money on Machine Gun Kelly.”
Will Conor McGregor ever entertain the celebrity boxing matchups?
Triller FC has started a trend in the world of combat sports. It has been organizing celebrity matchups and has given platforms to some huge names in the combat sports world such as Mike Tyson, Anderson Silva, Jake Paul, and Evander Holyfield.
But, it’s highly unlikely that McGregor will fight under the banner of triller. Now it won’t be a surprise if McGregor returns to boxing after his contract ends with UFC. But, he is likely to fight world champions or boxing legends such as Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao.
Jake Paul has been calling out McGregor for a long time now and if he keeps winning the McGregor might even consider fighting the YouTuber turned pro boxer in the near future.
But, for now, Conor McGregor has two fights in his UFC contract, and getting back to the winning column matters the most to the former UFC two-division champion.
