After Jorge Masvidal’s devastating knockout loss against Kamaru Usman at UFC 261. Masvidal lost a great opportunity to win the Welterweight Title for the second time in his career. But Gamebred has moved on from that horrific defeat and wants to make a quick recovery in the promotion.
The BMF had mentioned in one of his interviews during the weigh-ins of the Bare Knuckle organization event that he will ready to make a return by October or November this year. He also expressed that he wants to fight someone in the Top 5.
Three weeks after this announcement, Ariel Helwani has received some information from Masvidal’s manager. Helwani revealed this news on his Instagram page. “Spoke to Jorge Masvidal’s manager, Abraham Kawa, about what’s next for Masvidal. He said Masvidal is targeting a return in October/ November against either Colby Covington or Nick Diaz.”
Since Ariel Helwani’s announcement fans are buzzing with excitement because a fight where Jorge Masvidal faces Nick Diaz or Covington will be very interesting and entertaining to watch. It is needless to say that a large crowd will tune in to watch because Masvidal has a history with both the fighters.

How will Jorge Masvidal fare against Colby Covington or Nick Diaz?
Jorge Masvidal will look to make a mark at the top once again and who else is better to fight to make a statement other than his bitter rival Colby Covington or Nick Diaz. This is because The Chaos and El Diablo are two of the best fighters in the Welterweight division. Furthermore, Diaz and Covington have established their legacy in UFC by beating many top fighters.
Hence both fighters will put up a very strong fight and will make things difficult for Gamebred stylistically. But if Masvidal puts in the work and is at his best form during fight night then he can win against any given opponent. Moreover, both Covington and Diaz have not fought many opponents in the last few years. Nick Diaz last fought in the UFC in 2015 against Anderson Silva whereas Colby Covington has only fought only three times in the last two years.
As a result, they will face some problems getting their rhythm back in the octagon during their return. Consequently, Masvidal will have an upper hand if the fight prolongs. There will also be certain doubts about Nick Diaz whether he will be at his best or he has passed his prime years. Therefore both the fights are winnable for the BMF.
Furthermore, a win over either Colby Covington and Nick Diaz will probably bring Masvidal right back in the title contention. But as per the current scenario, it is highly unlikely that Masvidal will get the opportunity to face Colby Covington. Because Dana White and UFC want to book a title rematch between The Nigerian Nightmare and The Chaos. In the end, Leon Edwards and Nick Diaz are the only two well-established names that will be available for a fight in October/ November.
