St-Pierre claims Khabib Nurmagomedov was the only fighter he wanted to fight
Both St-Pierre and Khabib Nurmagomedov have favored the idea of a super-fight inside the octagon. While talking to London Real, St-Pierre revealed his thoughts on a potential Khabib Nurmagomedov super-fight.
“The most exciting thing is the scariest thing to do, and Khabib has the aura of invincibility. For me right now, he is the best fighter right now, in the UFC. We tried to make the fight happen, it did not happen. You know I turned the page, now it’s over. It makes sense for UFC for not wanting the fight. Let’s imagine if I win the fight, and I am old you know. Khabib has many fights left, he is younger than me. I leave, and they lose their investment. So in a business standpoint it makes sense for them to keep the ball rolling.”
St-Pierre revealed that he wanted to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov before retirement, however, negotiation fell short. St-Pierre revealed why UFC’s decision to not make him fight Khabib Nurmagomedov was logical from their side.
