Recently, Conor McGregor became the center of controversy when he responded to Khabib Nurmagomedov with a harsh tweet.
Following McGregor’s loss to Dustin Poirier, Khabib Nurmagomedov tweeted: “Good always defeats Evil”. Responding to this, Conor McGregor tweeted: “COVID is Good Father is Evil?”
This was a dig at Khabib over his father who recently passed away due to COVID-19. McGregor received a ton of backlashes over the tweet and later deleted it. Khabib Nurmagomedov himself said that McGregor crossed the line with that tweet.
However, Daniel Cormier was particularly upset with McGregor’s continuous digs at his opponent’s family. Talking about McGregor, Daniel Cormier stated:
“You know what’s most disturbing? This wasn’t done the day after the fight or the same night of the fight. This was done weeks after the fight, so it feels like it was thought of and it was thought through for Conor to tweet something like that.”
“Absolutely crossed the line. I think when stuff like that is being said, it’s a cry for help. Conor has all the money in the world, he has all the fame, but now when you start to dig at that level, it’s like somebody needs to get to McGregor and help him to start to kind of re-shift his mind and his focus and get him back to a better place. It’s unfortunate.”

This is not the first time Conor McGregor and Daniel Cormier have traded verbal jabs at each other as there have been times McGregor have called out DC for his comments.
Now, the majority of fans would agree that McGregor crossed the line by trashing Dustin Poirier and his wife, and Khabib Nurmagomedov and his family. However, McGregor is still the biggest star in MMA today and he is the only fighter who can sell over a million PPV effortlessly.
So some might argue that whatever McGregor is doing is certainly working in terms of the business value he brings to the table.
