Khabib Nurmagomedov takes on Justin Gaethje next in a title unification bout. It is believed that this fight will take place on UFC 253.
The lightweight champion was scheduled to take on Tony Ferguson in a fight for legacy at UFC 249. However, due to the pandemic outbreak, that fight fell apart and Ferguson ended up fighting Justin Gaethje.
The outcome of that fight might have shocked many fans including Justin Gaethje. Even Gaethje was surprised that the fight against the Boogeyman of the division was easier than expected. Gaethje will look to dethrone the undisputed champion in his next fight while Khabib will look to solidify his legacy as the greatest lightweight champion in UFC history by beating Justin Gaethje.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has beaten all the worthy contenders of this generation including the likes of Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Rafael Dos Anjos. And now he sets to take on the most violent man in UFC who is believed to be the toughest test for the Russian. If Khabib beats Gaethje then it would be hard to present an argument against the notion that he is indeed the greatest lightweight in MMA.
From Dagestan to UFC, the journey of Khabib has been nothing but inspirational. However, there have been people who have had a huge impact on Khabib’s success. And AKA’s coach Javier Mendez and UFC legend, Daniel Cormier are the backbone of Khabib’s career.
Khabib Nurmagomedov had some help along the way
Khabib Nurmagomedov became the greatest grappler in MMA form a great wrestler after he joined AKA. And the contribution of coach Mendez and Cormier to it can not be overlooked. It’s needless to say that, training with the likes of Daniel Cormier and Cain Valesquez day in and day out have done the work as Khabib sits on the top of the lightweight division.
Recently, Khaib Nurmagomedov took it to Instagram to appreciate Daniel Cormier and coach Javier Mendez and said:
“This two guys teach me a lot. Just watching them is an invaluable experience.”
Khabib Nurmagomedov is not the only one who will be entering into the octagon soon. Former two-division champion, Daniel Cormier will also take on Stipe Miocic in a trilogy fight. The former heavyweight champion will try to regain the title in his farewell fight and solidify his legacy as one of the best heavyweights of this generation.
Both Daniel Cormier and Khabib Nurmagomedov have brought a ton of pride to the American Kickboxing Academy. And it’s time for the leaders of the gym to shine once again inside the UFC octagon.
