UFC Vegas 38 featured an exciting bantamweight bout between the rising star in the division in Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson.
This was Ladd’s first fight since the win against Yana Kunitskaya. Aspen Ladd has not been very active in her UFC career. And it seems the fans will have to wait a little longer to watch Aspen Ladd compete in the octagon as her fight against Macy Chiasson has been canceled.
Aspen Ladd failed to make weight for her next fight on UFC Vegas 38. To make things worse, her official weigh-in was quite disturbing as she struggled to get on the scale and stand with her hands up. She was in horrible condition and she missed weight by 2 lbs.
This is not the first time, Ladd has struggled with the weight cut in her UFC career. For her second UFC appearance on UFC 229, Aspen Ladd looked in a horrible shape as well as he struggled to make weight.
After the fight was canceled, the number 3 ranked UFC bantamweight addressed her botched weight cut and stated:
“Fight is off. Again. All my fault. Straight up started my period 2 days back and made this cut absolutely miserable. Did the best I could, hit 137, the scale situation was a mess because the last thing I wanted was to bleed in front of the media. The fight wasn’t pulled, my opponent then decided she would rather not go through with it, as is her right. I’m going to get slammed regardless, so let it begin.”
Aspen Ladd, Mike Breeden, Bethe Correa missed weight for UFC Vegas 38
This was a crucial fight for Ladd as this could have won her a potential title shot against the bantamweight champion, Amanda Nunes.
Aspen Ladd is undoubtedly one of the top contenders in the division. After her knock-out loss against Germaine de Randamie, she was able to bounce back with an impressive TKO win over Yana Kunitskaya.
Aspen Ladd was not the only fighter to miss weight on the UFC Vegas 38 card.
Mike Breeden missed weight for his lightweight bout against Alexander Hernandez. Breeden weighed in at 158.5 lbs. Bethe Correa, who weighed in at 138.5 lbs, also missed weight for her bantamweight showdown against Karol Rosa.
