With UFC Las Vegas just in the wraps, fans have more topics than the actual bouts to talk about. The event took place at The Theatre, Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas. One of the most anticipated bouts was one scheduled at light heavyweight, between Ryan ‘Superman‘ Spann and Nikita Krylov. The stacked card was headlined by top bantamweights Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili, with Merab securing a decision victory over ‘No Mercy’.

Ryan Spann was initially scheduled to fight the 215-pounder Ukrainian at a UFC Fight Night on 26th February. However, the bout was canceled at the very last minute with Nikita falling ill due just hours before the fight. Luckily for fans, it was a food-related illness, which, the doctors were able to cure in time and help in getting the bout rescheduled sooner than later.

Even though the fight lasted for 3:38 of the very first round, fans witnessed the light heavyweights trading some heavy shots at the beginning, followed by an aggressive ground game showcase. At one point, Nikita appeared to have secured a position attaining Spann’s back, but, he quickly lost this advantageous position as Ryan made one last struggle to get the Ukranian off his back.

Moments later, Spann leaned in to connect leather with his opponent, but, he unintentionally threw himself into a vulnerable position. The American seemed to have thrown himself into a triangle attempt by Krylov, which, ‘The miner’ was able to successfully lock in. Eventually, Spann made the tap.

Nikita Krylov submits Ryan Spann at UFC Las Vegas and fans react

While a good chunk of MMA fight fans has been known to be merciless, they always seem to make rounds with their reactions, which are, sometimes hilarious and sometimes brutal. From trolling a fighter on their social media to FaceTiming them after a devastating loss, MMA fans have left no stone unturned while sitting behind their screens.

Post the Spann vs Kylov bout, fans quickly took over their social media and started making comparisons of Ryan Spann with the no. 3-ranked lightweight, Justin Gaethje. Even though Justin is nicknamed ‘The Highlight’, the 34-year-old has also been at the receiving end of a few highlight-worthy losses. One such finish that comes to mind is his title fight against former lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, who made Justin tap to a very similar triangle choke, as that of Spann tonight.

Seriously?, Spann tapped like 3 seconds into the choke just gave up

More like a Michael Chandler, Gaethje wins more consistently

— Bun (@BUN_AND_ONLY) March 12, 2023

Nothing but facts here

— Coby (@JetLifeCoby) March 12, 2023

He’s way worse than Gaethje

Do you think these comparisons have any legitimate merit behind them? or is this just fight fans being fight fans, trolling a fighter when he’s down? Let us know your thoughts in the comments down below.
