After a glorious MMA career, Khabib Nurmagomedov is now retired with an unprecedented record of 29-0. Not many combat sports athletes can claim that they retired on top, unbeaten despite competing at the highest level time and time again.
But, what’s next for Khabib Nurmagomedov? He certainly has enough wealth to live the rest of his life in a lavish fashion. He has multiple ventures outside UFC that would keep him occupied after his retirement. However, the former lightweight champion certainly wants to stay active in the MMA world.

Recently, Khabib Nurmagomedov was seen training the former UFC middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold for his MMA return. The former UFC champion did mention in an earlier interview with TMZ about Khabib wanting to train him and it seems Khabib was not joking around. Rockhold said:
“He wants to be the next great thing, following in his dad’s footsteps.” That’s what his dad always did. His dad was always insightful, and always had a good eye for the sport … and I think Khabib’s ready to assume that role in fatherhood.”
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been seen cornering multiple times so far in UFC. He has cornered and helped his teammates such as Islam Makhachev, Umar Numragomedov, and many. Khabib even showed interest in training Kevin Holland after his loss to Derek Brunson. It seems Nurmagomedov is taking inspiration from his father to help the fighters of the next generation.
However, it’s still hard to believe that Khabib Nurmagomedov is walking away from the sport while he still on the top of the lightweight division. And it’s certain that fans will keep on hoping for a return of Khabib for the years to come.

Khabib Nurmagomedov might return for a dream match with GSP
The former welterweight champion, George St-Pierre announced his retirement years ago. However, fans are still anticipating his UFC return every now and then. And it’s very likely that the fans will treat Khabib in a similar fashion.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has always shown interest in fighting GSP, who is arguably the greatest mixed martial artist ever. It’s still uncertain why UFC did not want to make this dream match happen. But, the fans still hope to see GSP and Khabib compete in the octagon again. And what better way than a super fight between two of the greatest fighters of all time.
