The world has lost a prominent figure in the world of Russian mixed martial arts as Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, father of Khabib Nurmagomedov has passed away.

UFC lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov was put under scrutiny when he was not able to make it to UFC 249. Originally scheduled to defend his title against Tony Ferguson, Khabib Nurmagonmedov did try his best to make the fight happen.

However, due to travel restrictions in Russia after the pandemic outbreak, Khabib was stuck in Dagestan. And UFC had to replace him with Justin Gaethje. Many fans criticized the lightweight champion for the same. However, Khabib’s reasons were valid and understandable.

And after the demise of his father, the whole thing with UFC 249 leaves a bad taste among the fight fans. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was diagnosed with COVID-19 after he had a heart attack. It required a critical bypass surgery and he was put into a medically induced coma afterward.

For a moment, it seemed that recovery was well in reach for Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father. Unfortunately, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov was reported dead after a lengthy battle with illness.

The entire MMA world is mourning the demise of a true legend of this sport as supports for Khabib Nurmagomedov pours in.

Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov has played a major role in the success of Khabib Nurmagomedov in MMA. It was him who has been training the lightweight champion since he was a child. He is the reason why Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.

Not just him but Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov has changed the lives of many kids in Russia by giving them a motive and passion to live for. And now that he has passed away there will always be an emptiness in the world of MMA that can never be fulfilled.
