Derrick Lewis is not a fan of the ‘shoey’ celebration. The former UFC heavyweight title contender is known for his witty nature. Every time he grabs on to a microphone, fans are guaranteed to have a chuckle. His post-fight interview with Joe Rogan at UFC 229 is still widely used whenever Lewis has a fight coming up.
‘The Black Beast‘ will face the Australian fighter Tai Tuivasa at UFC 271. Tuivasa is the person to make the shoey celebration popular in the MMA circuits. After every win, he pours beer in a shoe and drinks out of it. However, Lewis has no intentions of doing one after his next fight.

In a recent interview with Fox Sports Australia, Lewis said, “I just don’t like the beer-drinking out of the shoe… I don’t like all that. That’s nasty. My feet smell cheesy. I just can’t imagine just another man’s sweat in [it].”
Derrick Lewis will fight Tai Tuivasa at UFC 271
All the banters aside, the two giants will face each other in an important fight in the division. With the champion Francis Ngannou unable to compete due to injury for the foreseeable future, the weight class is probably headed for another interim title. The winner of this fight may be a shoo-in for that contest if the UFC decides to go down that road once again.
Lewis recently fought Ciryl Gane for the interim title at UFC 265, in Texas. It did not go so well for the Texan fighter as he was stopped in the third round by the French fighter. Hence, Lewis will look to redeem himself as the fight will once again take place in his home state.

The fight itself promises to be a very entertaining one. Both Lewis and Tuivasa are excellent strikers. Neither of them is too keen on taking their opponents down. Hence, the contest looks set to have fireworks in it. UFC 271 will take place live on February 12, at Toyota Centre in Houston, Texas.
