To quote Conor McGregor, “Real recognizes Real”. And probably that’s why Nate Diaz reacted to Edgar’s win in the way he did.
We saw a possible Fight of the Year candidate when Frankie Edgar took on Pedro Munhoz in the main event of UFC Fight Night. It was an action-packed high pace fight. Both fighters looked phenomenal.
Frankie Edgar was making his bantamweight debut in UFC. There were speculations surrounding how would he do after cutting those extra 10 pounds. However, Frankie Edgar looked great against a top bantamweight in UFC.
On the other hand, Pedro Munhoz gave arguably the best performance of his career coming from a long layoff. However, in the end, Frankie Edgar got his hands raised, a decision that mane fans termed as “Robbery”.
Both the fighters landed an insane amount of strikes throughout the five rounds. While Frankie Edgar was landing numerous combinations Pedro Munhoz was landing the bigger shots. However, Edgar was missing a fair amount of strikes. Munhoz was controlling the octagon and putting the pressure on Frankie Edgar.
It was in the second round when Edgar started shooting for takedowns. Edgar did secure a couple of takedowns in the fight, but he could not much damage on the ground as Munhoz got back up with ease.
Pedro Munhoz was landing a lot of leg kicks and hurting Edgar badly. In the third round, Edgar’s leg even gave up after a leg kick from Munhoz. But, Edgar stuck to the basics and showcased phenomenal boxing.
Nate Diaz praises Frankie Edgar for his win
Though fans are not happy with the victory of Frankie Edgar, Nate Diaz seems pretty pleased with the outcome. The UFC star congratulated Nate Diaz by posting:
Nate Diaz has made it clear in the past that he respects the real fighters in the game. And who can be more real than the legend, Frankie Edgar?
Fans were thrilled to Edgar finally get back on the winning track and it’s no secret that fans will be excited to see Nate Diaz back in the ring too.
Ever since his loss to Jorge Masvidal, Nate Diaz has been away from the sport. He did call out Masvidal for a BMF rematch. But, Masvidal went on to fight Kamaru Usman for the title. Unfortunately, Masvidal was unable to capture the welterweight title. And this opens the door for a Nate Diaz vs Jorge Masvidal 2. But, will Nate Diaz make his octagon return for this fight? Only, Nate can answer this question.
