3 time Bellator lightweight champion Michael Chandler made a huge statement in his debut UFC fight against Dan Hooker. Getting inside the octagon as an underdog and then securing a 1st round vicious KO victory was bound to impress Dana White. Shortly after his UFC debut, Chandler found himself becoming the 4th ranked lightweight in the UFC dethroning Conor McGregor.
And now, it seems that Iron wants to face Justin Gaethje next. Recently, he was interviewed by Ariel Helwani. When asked by Helwani who he wants to face next in his new UFC journey, he named none other than The Highlight. Check out what he had to say:
“If I had it my way, it would be Justin Gaethje cuz I think it’s a fact that excites me. I think it’s a fight I match up extremely well. Against Justin Gaethje, you had a guy who I tangled with a couple of times named Eddie Alvarez, who beat Justin Gaethje whenever they fought for the unofficial title of Most Violent Guy in mixed martial arts, most violent guy in the UFC. Eddie Alvarez won that fight. I think I’m the new most violent guy in the UFC. If Justin Gaethje wants to prove that, he’s gonna need to step in the octagon against me.”

Michael Chandler Debuted For UFC In UFC 257 Co-Main Event Against Dan Hooker
Michael proved the odds wrong in a scintillating fashion after he knocked out Hooker in the first round in his debut fight in UFC. With a strong resume, an impressive debut victory will naturally skyrocket Iron high up in the ranks. As a result, just after he defeated Hangman, he became the #4 lightweight contender. On the other hand, Gaethje is coming off a loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov. But, still, he’s currently one of the top lightweights in UFC and is one of the hardest-hitting fighters on the UFC roster.
Both men are good strikers and have an extensive background in wrestling. Even Chandler has said that Gaethje is a good match-up for him. So, it would be very interesting to see them going toe-to-toe against each other inside the octagon.
