Recently, Sean Strickland defeated Israel Adesanya in the UFC 293 event in Australia to win the UFC Middleweight Championship. It was a hard-fought battle between the two professional UFC fighters. In the end, Sean Strickland came out on top, as he won the fight with the judge’s unanimous decision.
Although Izzy was expected to dominate the 32-year-old American, he received a reality check in the first round itself. Strickland remained competitive throughout the fight. The most surprising thing was when he knocked down Adesanya with a powerful right hand. ‘Tarzan’ who fights with an unconventional fighting style was very impressive throughout the fight and outperformed the defending champion.

During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast, UFC commentator Joe Rogan praised Sean Strickland for his fighting ability and insane performance against Adesanya. He discussed Strickland’s tactical approach and said that Izzy might have underestimated Strickland as a competitive force.
Joe Rogan exposes Sean Strickland’s secret weapon against Israel Adesanya and says, “Sean Strickland looked so f***ing good, I don’t know if that’s Izzy being flat. It might be he underestimated him. I think he’s also got that front kick to the body off the left leg that people aren’t talking about”.
Rogan further added, “That was so important because he’s standing like this straight up and you don’t know when it’s coming and every now and then he’s stabbing you in the gut. He doesn’t throw a lot of kicks but he throws a very effective left front kick and his f***ing checks are on the money”.
The podcast also had Sean O’Malley, the current UFC Bantamweight Champion along with Joe Rogan. It was an informative discussion by the two Americans where they revealed some of their interesting thoughts.
The 56-year-old pointed out how good the left front kick of Strickland is and how it can be brutal to the opponent in the fight. The fact that he doesn’t throw a lot of kicks in the fight makes it very unpredictable for the opponent.
Joe Rogan is in awe of Sean Strickland’s fighting ability
Joe Rogan credited Sean Strickland’s victory and achievement to his cardio and his insane ability to maintain composure under pressure. Moreover, his striking at the most perfect of times was a very important reason for his victory. He looked really calm even during the fifth round of the fight, considering it was his first world title fight and against one of the best fighters in the world.
The new UFC middleweight champion will now be looking to continue his winning run and defend his title for as long as possible. As for Israel Adesanya, he would definitely want to put aside his defeat and not look back on it. Only time will tell if the two will fight again in the future for a rematch.
