Israel Adesanya has successfully completed his fourth title defence at middleweight in a row. Last night at UFC 271, he once again found himself victorious against an old foe in the form of Robert Whittaker. However, that result has not pleased everyone. Following the fight, Whittaker stated that he won the fight despite the judgement.
Both in the post-fight interview and the press conference afterwards, Robert Whittaker repeated the same. But the winner does not share the same opinion as that of the Aussie. Adesanya mocked his opponent’s remarks and rubbished the claims right off the bat.
“I heard he thought he won the fight or some sh**. I don’t know what he and Vettori was sipping on to think (that they won). Probably Costar’s wine. But f**king he**! He did not win that fight, he knows it.”
Previously, Israel Adesanya mentioned that he uses shower time to introspect upon his actions and surroundings. He suggested that Robert Whittaker should also do the same in order to process the loss in the main event of UFC 271.
“But yes, same thing. He needs to go and have a shower as well and reflect and realise that that’s not true”
Israel Adesanya rates his performance 7 out of 10
In the press conference, Israel Adesanya was asked to rate his performance. Adesanya stated that he had a pretty decent performance overall and gave it 7 out of 10. He also expressed that he would have liked to show off his offensive grappling in the fight. But Izzy was satisfied with the proceedings as he stated that it was a very ‘tactical’ contest.
“I’m the champ. You want it, COME GET IT!” ????

Adesanya also commented on Jared Cannonier being the next. The Stylebender said that he caught glimpses of the fight between the ‘Killa Gorilla’ and Derek Brunson. However, he also pointed out that Cannonier was taken down and rocked during the fight as well. Adesanya conveyed that June is a potential date for the fight. He did not rule out another go at 205lbs ‘down the line.’
