Widely considered the greatest fighter to ever grace the octagon, Anderson Silva might make his final appearance in the octagon on October 21st.
UFC has announced a middleweight clash between former UFC champion, Anderson Silva and ranked number 10 middleweight, Uriah Hall.
Uriah Hall was scheduled to fight Yoel Romero. But, Romero pulled out of the fight due to potential injury. Fortunately, Hall would face Silva in a fight that will have a huge impact on his inconsistent career.
Recently, Dana White stated that he would like Silva to retire from MMA after one more fight. However, Silva had some other plans for the ending of his career.
Though he did not deny White’s speculation he said that he is hopeful for one more super fight after the fight against Uriah Hall. Silva is aiming for the fight against Conor McGregor for his final fight.
Should Anderson Silva fight Israel Adesanya in a rematch?
Anderson Silva wants to fight Conor McGregor in a mega fight. His coach is hopeful for a rematch with the UFC middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya. Though both the fights will be exciting for Silva and his fans they don’t make sense. But, the rematch between Adesanya and SIlva does excite some hardcore fans. Coach Camoes said:
“I think I’ve seen Anderson fight everybody. I think that, in his division, the only fight that I personally would love to see again is him and Israel Adesanya. That fight was fabulous. Three spectacular rounds. Israel had to fight hard. It was one of the most technical fights I’ve ever seen in MMA history. Two talents, they put on a show of martial arts and respect. A second fight would be something spectacular.”
The Uriah Hall fight does not seem the ideal way for Silva to retire from the sport after such an illustrious career. However, Silva can’t really hope for a happy ending at this point in his career.
The fans will be ecstatic if Anderson Silva fights Israel Adesanya and wins the belt on his final fight. But, why would Adesanya grant a rematch to Silva? Why would UFC make that fight happen?
Israel Adesanya is one of the hottest superstars right now. After the win over Paulo Costa, he has this aura of invincibility around him, and with that comes a number of mega fights. Adesanya can easily move up and fight the light heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz. He can have the greatest super fight that can be made at the moment against Jon Jones. He can even fight Stipe Miocic at the heavyweight division. With so many big fights ahead of him why would Adesanya consider the rematch against Silva?
Israel Adesanya would be happy to share the octagon with his idol again. But, the fight does not make sense for him.
Anderson Silva has been on a losing streak for years. The only win he has had since 2013 was against Derek Brunson. And he did not look impressive in that fight either.
The legacy of Silva is etched in the history book as one of the pioneers of the sport. But the last few years of his career have indeed tarnished his once-perfect legacy.
However, Anderson Silva has always tried to put on a show for the fans. So it won’t be surprising if he decides to carry on his journey in the cruel sport known as MMA.
