When it comes to MMA, not every fighter has what it takes to evolve into a coach. There are very few fighters who have the natural ability to express their teachings and bring into account their experience. Henry Cejudo is one such name. He has trained the likes of Zhang Weili, Deiveson Figueiredo, and the now heavyweight champion of the world, Jon Jones.

Jon Jones trained with Henry Cejudo ahead of his heavyweight debut
It isn’t unusual for MMA fighters to switch training camps a few times, before calling it a career. While Jon has trained for most of his MMA career at the famous Jackson-Wink MMA gym in Albuquerque, New Mexico, he has also graced a few other gyms for shorter periods of time.
In November 2021, Jon Jones found his way to Cejudo’s Fight Ready gym in Arizona. Ever since, the two have been spotted training multiple times there and sharing words of advice, especially pertaining to the art of wrestling. Cejudo even invited Jones for dinner made by the former Olympic gold winner’s mother.
Even though Jon has proven his greatness inside the Octagon time and time again, we knew that Cejudo’s wrestling expertise is only going to add more to Jon’s arsenal. Before beginning his MMA career, Jones was a stand-out high school wrestler and state champion at Union-Endicott High School in upstate New York.
While Henry Cejudo’s comeback fight is reportedly a done deal, fans are eagerly waiting to see how he performs after such a long lay-off. Will ring rust be a problem? or does Triple-C does what he does best and capture the 135-pound gold? We will find out soon.
