What is Stephen Thompson’s walkout song? For as long as one can remember, Stephen Thompson has walked out to the UFC cage with the song, “Wonderboy” by Tenacious D running in the background. And while a lot of fighters might have a tendency to switch songs for their walkouts, Thompson is quite particular and he will ” for always and for forever be walking out on Wonderboy by Tenacious D“.

It is easy to presume that Thompson’s nickname and his walkout song are somehow related. And they might as well be, but the story behind Thompson’s nickname goes back to when he was just a teenager. Thompson revealed it was when he was 15 that he got the nickname, “Wonderboy“.
Fighting an opponent who was 26 years old and 20-0, Thompson, 15, knew very little that after the fight he would get a nickname that will stick with him for the rest of his life.
“I ended up beating the brakes off this 26-year-old guy. After the fight, the announcer asked my opponent how it felt. He answered, ‘I wonder why I stepped in the ring with that boy and the announcer called me Wonderboy, and it stuck with me ever since.” Thompson revealed.

Needless to say, as Thompson closes in on what has truly been a legendary career, walking out with Jack Black, the creator of the song that has been with him for almost as long as his mixed martial arts journey, would have been a cherry on the cake.
