Rising from the streets of Miami to become one of the most popular fighters in the history of UFC, Jorge Masvidal has come along way since starting his MMA career in the backyard with MMA veteran Kimbo Slice. Recently, UFC released a video where UFC President Dana White can be seen reacting to Jorge Masvidal during his heated face-off with Kamaru Usman at UFC 251. In a video posted by the ESPN, Dana White can be seen saying “Streed Jesus freaks me out.”

Jorge Masvidal was initially scheduled to take on Kamaru Usman for the UFC Welterweight Champion, however, after failing to come to terms with the UFC, the fight was offered to Gilbert Burns. Fortunately for all the Masvidal fans, Gilbert Burns had to pull out after he tested positive with the coronavirus. Jorge Masvidal accepted a short-notice fight against the Champion.
Who is next for Jorge Masvidal?
Earlier, it was reported that Masvidal will take on Nate Diaz in a rematch for the symbolic “BMF” belt. Nate Diaz posted a video titled, “Round 4” on his official Youtube channel and teased a potential rematch with the Gamebred. Masvidal has expressed his interest at a rematch multiple times in the past. However, recently UFC President Dana White hinted that a Masvidal against Colby Covington makes the most sense considering the former interim Champion’s emphatic win over Tyron Woodley this past month.

Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington are former friends, roommates, and trainers turned foe who will look to settle their beef once and for all inside the UFC octagon. Colby Covington made his return to the octagon after his impressive performance against Kamaru Usman and took on former Champion Tyron Woodley. After failing to grab the title belt, Covington vowed to finish Woodley to cement his title contention. Covington did just that as he dominated Woodley for the better part of the full five rounds, before earning a stoppage victory due to rib injury.
Masvidal looked impressive against Kamaru Usman, and despite a lackluster fight, used every chance possible to cause damage to Kamaru Usman. Masvidal will likely make his return before 2020, however, a rematch against Nate Diaz seems possible in 2021.
