Recently, the Irish megastar caught the attention of fight fans after he showcased a new and rather unexpected look. The internet was seemingly taken aback by his recent appearance. And as a result, fans and critics alike swarmed social media platforms with all sorts of reactions and comments.

In the above video, the 34-year-old is sporting a mustache that several personalities are actually quite known for. The clip includes Conor walking, raising his eyebrows, and then flashing his signature grin at the end.
To many, it feels like McGregor is rocking a Merv Hughes-esque mustache, a common sight found among Australian cricketers. Others feel he’s paying tribute to WWE icon Hulk Hogan, someone who has adorned the horseshoe mustache for decades.
However, there’s one strong comparison being made between him and UFC Hall of Famer, Chuck Liddell. And given Conor’s history with the 53-year-old, the new mustache might very well be a homage to the former light heavyweight champion.

Before Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor, Liddell was considered to be the face of the UFC. In 2008, the Irishman managed to take a picture with Chuck as an MMA fan. It was the first-ever UFC live event that McGregor attended. A young Conor seemed extremely happy to stand alongside the UFC veteran.
Over a decade later, during the UFC 246 ceremonial weigh-ins, fans spotted Chuck in the front row as Conor received an entire arena’s applause. Naturally, many are now pointing to Liddell’s signature mustache as being the inspiration behind Conor’s new look.
