UFC 256 is currently without a main-event with Kamaru Usman opting out of his scheduled title defense against Gilbert Burns owing to more time for preparation. Earlier, Cody Garbrandt had pulled out of his flyweight title bout due to an injury leading to UFC 255 without a main event slot. Both the UFC PPV’s are currently without a main-event fight, however, to save the day yet again, Tony Ferguson has offered to the main event either of the UFC PPV: UFC 255 or UFC 256.

Speaking to Ariel Helwani of the ESPN, Ferguson stated that he is ready to compete in a five-round fight. However, Ferguson added that he would need to talk about the pay considering he was getting ready for Khabib Nurmagomedov, and yet stepped in to fight Justin Gaethje.

“I am ready for five rounds. I hear that they’re needing the main event. There’s one in November and one in December. My agent said we’re fine to fight, but we want to discuss pay because the opponent changed. I already told the UFC I was in, I’m good with the fights, so let’s make it happen.” Ferguson stated.
Tony Ferguson is not waiting for Khabib Nurmagomedov
Earlier, Tony Ferguson stated that he is not going to wait around for Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, he has his eyes set on the Eagle. Additionally, Ferguson cant wait to get avenge his loss against Justin Gaethje. Ferguson said that he would be there for Khabib as a brother, however, he doesn’t care if he retires from the sport.

Khabib Nurmagomedov had teased an epic showdown between Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier ahead of UFC 254. However, the bout did not see the light of the day after Poirier failed to come to terms with the UFC. Ferguson came up and raised his voice in favor of Poirier, who would later reject a potential Michael Chandler fight with respect to the former interim Champion.

If Tony Ferguson does make his UFC return, it will be interesting to see who welcomes him back to the octagon. With Dustin Poirier expected to compete against Conor McGregor in a charity exhibition MMA bout in Decemeber, it will be interesting to see how everything unfolds in the coming months. However, it’s safe to say if there is a fight to be made, Tony Ferguson is ready to step inside the octagon.
