Most laypersons have a misconception of what a fighter looks like. When they imagine a dominant fighter, the picture of a muscular adonis is probably what conjures up first. However, combat sports fans know that dominant fighters come in all shapes and sizes and no one embodies that better than the portly and deceptively athletic, Daniel Cormier.
A trend appeared on social media wherein people imply that a particular fighter could easily dominate a bodybuilder despite being outsized. One of the most popular examples of this is the juxtaposition between Chris Hemsworth and former UFC double champion, Daniel Cormier.
To be clear, the MCU star stands no chance against the former Olympic wrestler. Daniel Cormier is one of the greatest fighters in the history of the sport with a stacked resume. In a potential fight, Hemsworth would get completely annihilated by the 43-year-old UFC commentator. And the internet has the same opinion that Cormier would destroy the Thor actor.
User jacobschiling wrote in a comment, “DC takes him down and stays on top, pounding his face in the ground.” Another user, chandlerwilson clarified, “U think DC gonna be able to win in a fight vs the literal god of thunder? Thor no diff.” It seems the internet has spoken. And they have collectively opined that DC destroys Chris Hemsworth in a fight but doesn’t win against Chris’ MCU character, Thor. All in all, quite a fair assessment.
Khabib Nurmagomedov once explained what made Daniel Cormier so dominant
Daniel Cormier amassed an awe-inspiring record in his professional MMA career. Cormier beat everyone he ever faced that was not named Jon Jones. He retired with a 22-3 (1 NC) record. Among those 22 wins are legends and former champions like Stipe Miocic, Frank Mir, Anderson Silva, and many more.
DC has only lost to Jones and Miocic, however, they are arguably the greatest fighters of all time in their weight classes. Furthermore, Daniel is also a former simultaneous double champion. He achieved that honor after beating Stipe Miocic for the heavyweight title at UFC 226.
DC’s former teammate and UFC lightweight legend Khabib Nurmagomedov once explained what made DC so dominant during his career. The Eagle said, “He is like [a] rock. He is like [a] very big bear. He is very strong… When people [come into] contact with him, they understand he is like completely different.”
With Khabib himself retiring as one of the greatest ever UFC lightweights, he certainly knows what makes a fighter elite. And his friend and training partner, Daniel Cormier, was certainly a dominant champion during his UFC career.
