Jon Jones made a triumphant return to the Octagon at UFC 285. Beating Ciryl Gane in a dominant, one-sided affair, Jones had a quick night at the office. However, despite his commendable feat and achievement, there have been some, who are still unhappy with the new heavyweight champion.
For one, we saw UFC lightweight Brad Riddell comment on Jones’ victory, labeling him a ‘scumbag’. Further, we saw Francis Ngannou question Jon’s gas tank, stating that he might have been in a hurry to dispatch Gane on the night. Now, middleweight Sean Strickland has also again entered the fray to take a few digs at Jones.
Speaking to Helen Yee, Strickland had some harsh jabs at Jones. “I guarantee Jon Jones’ wife put up a bigger fight than Ciryl Gane”. Further, he continues, “Let me say one thing about Jon Jones. Greatest fighter in the world, but Jon Jones sucks you guys. He’s failed the most drug tests, he f*cking beat his wife bloody, he hit a pregnant lady and drove off, breaking her arms.
Thus, Sean believes, that Jones could have been the best fighter ever, but his bad drug record will forever stain his legacy. According to “Tarzan”, Jones should never be allowed to fight in the UFC again due to his poor disciplinary record. As such, he has openly requested Stipe Miocic to use him as a ‘punching bag’ in order to prepare for his upcoming fight against Jones atUFC 290.
Are Jon Jones and his fiancé Jessie Moses still together after their domestic violence incident?
Despite their past troubles, Jon and his fiance Jessie have seemingly found their way back to each other. Having seemingly split in late 2021, the pair have reunited and were seen celebrating together at UFC 285. With Jessie and Jon spending the entirety of fight week together, it appears as though they are once again inseparable.
Further, many pointed out the fact that Jon would often refer to Jessie as his wife rather than his fiance, indicating that they may have tied the knot already or are planning to do so in the near future. Either way, it appears as though all is good in the Jones household after a rather tumultuous period.
After becoming the new heavyweight champion and the #1 P4P fighter in the UFC, Jones is surely loving life. With the wind in his stride and all things going well, Jon will be preparing for his next challenge. Following his victory over Gane, Jon has longed for a fight against Stipe Miocic, who he hails as a GOAT.
In his post-fight interview at UFC 285, Jones asked the crowd, “Y’all wanna see me beat up Stipe?”. Thus, the two will likely butt heads at UFC 290 at the UFC International Fight Week in Las Vegas. On paper, it is shaping up to be one of the biggest fights of the year, and will be a testimonial fight for Jones, the final test, which should he pass, will leave no doubts as to who the undisputed GOAT is.
