Cody “No Love” Garbrandt vs Rob Font prediction
Though Cody Garbrandt is going into the fight as a favorite it’s not going to be an easy outing for the former bantamweight champion. Rob Font is on an incredible winning streak in the division with wins over some tough opponents. He also has a win over Sergio Pettis, who is now the Bellator bantamweight champion.
Rob Font is very technical and is good everywhere. He is a solid boxer, coming from the New England Cartel gym, and if needed he can grapple with the best fighters as well. Rob Font has also shown durability throughout his UFC career as he is yet to suffer a KO loss. However, his next opponent will certainly test his chin as Cody Garbrandt is one of the most powerful punchers in the division.
Cody Garbrandt struggled a lot to win inside the octagon after his title win against Dominick Cruz. He showed poor fight IQ and strategy in his fight against TJ Dillashaw and Pedro Munhoz. However, Garbrandt was able to bounce back from three consecutive losses with a win over Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250.
Though Cody Garbrandt showed some improvements in his fight against Assuncao there are still a lot of concerns. We still have not seen Cody Garbrandt face adversities after his three consecutive losses.
Rob Font is extremely technical with his striking and has a powerful right hand, which can put Garbrand in trouble. Font’s 6-inch reach advantage will certainly play a big factor in the fight. However, Cody Garbrandt will be too fast for Rob Font.
Garbrandt’s counter will be very effective against Rob Font. But Font does have nice defense so we can expect him to avoid the power punches from Garbrandt.
Garbrandt should be the favorite going into this fight. But, knocking out Rob Font will not be easy for Garbrandt. He needs to fight a smart fight. And in a 5 rounder, unless Garbrandt has made all the necessary changes which we don’t know yet, Rob Font will get the job done.
There is always a chance that Garbrandt will knock out Rob Font early in the fight. There is even a possibility that Garbrandt’s fast counters will play a significant role in the fight’s outcome and Font will be outclassed by a margin. But, Rob Font is very technical and he has not been knocked out before. Hence, Rob Font should get the job done against Cody Garbrandt at UFC Vegas 27.
