SUMMARY
- Tom Aspinall posted a Jon Jones' meme while targeting 'weirdos' online.
- Aspinall and Jones have been having a back-and-forth on social media.
Tom Aspinall has continued to post about Jon Jones on his social media as the UFC heavyweight champion avoids picking a fight against the UK fighter over the planned bout against Stipe Miocic. Lately, Aspinall has switched from X to post on his Instagram Stories. The interim heavyweight champion posted a meme related to Jones but also added a disclaimer.
Aspinall posted a meme about the double standards being shown by fans on the internet. The reception from fans for Jones facing an older fighter in Daniel Cormier was very different from Aspinall wanting to face an older fighter in Jones. Aspinall captioned the Story, “Very accurate. The internet is a wild place for MMA fans (this is not a Jon jones diss I’m getting at the weirdos online)”
In his next Story, Aspinall wrote, “You can be anyone you want on the internet.”
Aspinall’s Stories, however, seem to be open to interpretation. He posted a meme related to Jones that is relevant to their real-life scenario but tried to attack the trolls through it.
Jon Jones wants to fight Stipe Miocic as planned instead of facing Tom Aspinall
Aspinall expressed his disappointment on X a few days ago about Stipe Miocic’s title shot ahead of him. The Britisher believed that Miocic’s resume was superior but explained that UFC has never been about that. Aspinall’s argument was, “Surely if you’re interim champ, your next fight should be to fight for undisputed? Come on.”
Aspinall hoped to improve his resume through a fight against Jones. However, Jones was unwilling to cooperate. The UFC heavyweight champion claimed there was unfinished business between him, the UFC, and Miocic. Many believed that Jones was avoiding facing Aspinall.
My stipe fight was booked well before yours came along, you weren’t even the back up fighter.. Trust me you’re the one who is coming around here with the inflated ego and entitlement. That intern championship means absolutely nothing if you seriously haven’t noticed yet. All your…

The interim champion even asked Jones to forget the whole back-and-forth and just focus on his fight demand. However, Jones was never looking to take up a fight against Aspinall.
‘Bones’ was supposed to face Miocic at UFC 295 and defend his heavyweight title for the first time. The match could not go ahead as Jones suffered a pectoral injury. Instead, Aspinall fought Sergei Pavlovich for the interim title.
Michael Bisping claims Jon Jones needs to fight Aspinall to turn the narrative in his favor
UFC veteran Michael Bisping also had his say on the Jones and Aspinall situation. Bisping believes Jones “doesn’t have anything to prove, other than he can beat Tom Aspinall.” According to the former UFC middleweight champion, there is a narrative that Jones avoided Francis Ngannou till the very end. Although he hoped to fight him, the narrative exists. With Ngannou out of the UFC, the narrative will always exist.
Bisping said, “If he doesn’t fight Tom Aspinall, if he beats Stipe, that will forever be the narrative. That will forever be the narrative – that he’s ducking Tom Aspinall, that he’s afraid of Tom Aspinall.”
Another UFC veteran, Chael Sonnen also had his say on the matter. According to Sonnen, Jones can just say no and move on from this social media feud.
