UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya will step inside the octagon this weekend to defend his title against his old adversary Robert Whittaker in a rematch in the main event of UFC 271.
After making his debut in 2018, The Last Stylebender has dominated the 185-pound division and has successfully defended his title thrice after winning it against Whittaker at UFC 243. Consequently, the middleweight champion has evolved into a superstar and is one of the biggest names in MMA.
With less than a week left for this highly anticipated title bout, Adesanya sat down for an interview with ESPN’S Brett Okamoto. Izzy discussed things related to his upcoming fight and spoke about how he has embraced himself and is standing in his light. During one of the segments in this interview, The Last Stylebender also revealed a funny sparring incident with his frenemy Dan Hooker.
“This camp sparring I’m talking shit. Literally talking shit to my sparring partners and like they’re my friends and they’re my brothers you know and we talk shit like me and Dan. I’ll put this clip on my only fans just for my own pleasure. But like there’s one bit where I did something and he’s like ‘Vettori is the real champ. And that got me off-guard and I started laughing.”

Israel Adesanya is amongst the biggest showmen in the history of MMA. The UFC Middleweight champion has never shied away from trolling and trash-talking his opponents and is very vocal about his thoughts. Moreover, Izzy is very active on social media and often shares clips of him enjoying with his teammates and friends.
While speaking with Brett Okamoto ahead of his rematch against Whittaker, Adesanya said that he loves to have banter with his teammates and is having a lot of fun in this training camp. “Yeah, like I’m talking s**t to them because I’m having fun and it’s what we do. It’s the banter between us and even me and bam boys, that’s one of my best sparring partners.”
