Marvin Vettori fought against Robert Whittaker in the co-main event of UFC Paris. Although Vettori is one of the best fighters in the division, Whittaker made easy work of the Italian fighter. It was a very one-sided affair and UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya mocked Vettori following the fight.
It is to be noted that Marvin Vettori and Israel Adesanya are not on good terms. They have fought twice previously and Adesanya has won both fights. The first fight between them was a very close one in which Adesanya was taken down multiple times. However, Adesanya won via split decision. But the second bout was not even close!
But, following their clash at UFC 263, Marvin Vettori thought he did pretty well. Naturally, that did not sit well with Izzy who slammed him for his comments.
In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Adesanya put out his reactions to UFC Paris. He was seen cheering Rob whenever the Aussie had some success. Before the fight, Izzy predicted that Rob would get a comfortable win against Vettori and that is exactly what happened.
After the fight was done, someone around him made fun of Vettori and could be heard sarcastically saying, “Should somebody ask Vettori if he won?”
Robert Whittaker called out Israel Adesanya at UFC Paris
While Israel Adesanya was pretty dismissive of Marvin Vettori, he did receive a call out from Robert Whittaker at UFC Paris. After beating Vettori via unanimous decision, Rob stated that he would like to have a third fight against The Last Stylebender.
The Kiwi already has his next title fight lined up for him. He will take on his arch nemesis in the main event of UFC 281 in November. He is set to go up against Alex Pereira, to whom he has lost twice previously in kickboxing. It remains to be seen how the bout goes as Pereira is in amazing shape before the fight.
As for Robert Whittaker, there is no credible fight left for him in the middleweight division. He is ranked no. 1 in the division and has faced all the contenders in the weight class. The only bout that can be considered for him in the 185lbs division, is Paulo Costa. Costa is coming off a win against Luke Rockhold at UFC 278.
Who do you think Robert Whittaker should face next? Will he get another crack at Israel Adesanya? Or do you think Paulo Costa is the next probable bout for Bobby Knuckles? Let us know in the comments down below.
